Elizabeth Morris - Senior Trainer Dip. Dog Psy, Dip.dog.tricks, Dip.dogtraining.st
I have three wire-haired fox terriers aged 9 years, 5 years and 3 years, and joined the club when Molly my eldest was a puppy.
I had never owned a dog before and didn't really have any idea how to start training her, but a neighbour recommended the club so I thought I would give it a go. Training terriers can be challenging to say the least; they are independent thinkers with strong noses(!) but the support and guidance I got from the trainers kept me going and all three of my dogs have achieved the Good Citizens Gold Award. More importantly, they are all well adjusted, sociable dogs that I am happy to let off the lead at the park.
After Jasper passed Gold in February 2012 I decided I would like to become more involved with the club and became an assistant trainer. I have been on a number of courses to build on my teaching skills and assisted in training all levels of the Good Citizens scheme to develop my techniques.
For the past 3 years I have been the lead trainer in classes from Puppy through to Gold and have been lucky enough to see many "difficult" (their owners words, not mine!) dogs develop into the companion they were intended to be, and many owners develop the skills required to be the pack leader their pets need.
I am a student member of the Kennel Club Accredited Instructor scheme and recently qualified as a Kennel Club A list examiner for Bronze level.
